Here are some things I've made

Mugs

Mug | Flowers

Description: This drawing was done in Leith School of Art and I was able to finish it off thanks to the encouragement of one of my tutors. Subsequently after seeing my Covid mugs selling so well I decided to buy a different set of mugs with this design on it.

Mug | COVID-19

Description: My employability advisor found a mug contest back in June last year run by a company called Able Arts, which is a charity that helps people with learning disabilities and autism.

After entering and finding that people liked my design, I decided to start a business venture selling these Covid design mugs. I ended up selling over 20 and I had to place even more orders because someone made a large order.

About

Biography

My name is Yuet-Sheun, or Yuet for short and I am sometimes known affectionately by my nickname as Jasmine.

I have always been interested in art and design and craft and design since I was a child. However, because people told me that it is difficult to make a living in the arts field, I tried to get an office job as it is an essential part of every company. Throughout these years I have gone through the traditional method of applying for jobs, searching for jobs, and preparing for interviews but getting nowhere because I am autistic and have certain difficulties and struggle with interviews. Rather than feeling sorry for myself I try to use my time effectively and efficiently to learn. I have been an art student practicing at various schools, such as Leith School Of Art, for a number of years. I had also been taking botanical, illustration and art class with Edinburgh council before the lockdown began back in March 2020. I am now putting some effort into this business as I would like use my passion to generate some income for myself. I also hope that doing this will motivate me to draw more and make good use of my time.

How this business idea evolved

One of my friends came back from Singapore with a gift for me, which was a set of straws in a pouch designed by an autistic person. My employability advisor found this charity called Able Arts which turn art work onto products. After seeing my Covid design was quite popular I decided to buy my own mugs and sell to folks. Since then I have tried to experiment my art efforts onto other products such as face masks and Christmas Cards.
